Xbox Game Pass Appears to Be Teasing Cyberpunk 2077 as Its Next Big Addition

The official Xbox Game Pass account on X posted what looks like a staged internal email on 2nd March, supposedly from their fictional staffer "Melissa McGamepass.":
The "v" is bolded. That's not an accident.
V is the name of Cyberpunk 2077's protagonist. The opening line, "wake up social team" is a barely disguised nod to Keanu Reeves' Johnny Silverhand, who tells the player to "wake the f**k up, Samurai" in the game's iconic early trailer. And "breathtaking worlds to explore" almost certainly nods to that same E3 2019 reveal, where Reeves coined his now-legendary "you're breathtaking" response to a fan in the crowd.
Put it all together and the community's reaction was, understandably, immediate.
This Isn't the First Time Game Pass Has Done This
Xbox Game Pass has previous form with these Melissa McGamepass teaser emails. Last month, a near-identical post hinted at Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 joining the service, and the official announcement followed the very next day. If the pattern holds, a confirmation for Cyberpunk 2077 on Game Pass is likely imminent.
Worth noting too: Cyberpunk 2077 has never appeared on Game Pass before. Back in 2021, footage from the game did appear in an Xbox cloud gaming promo, which briefly sent fans into a frenzy at the time, only for CD Projekt to swiftly deny any Game Pass plans were in the works. That was then.
What We Still Don't Know
No date has been confirmed. No tier details, either. It's also unclear whether Phantom Liberty, the game's expansion, would be included or whether subscribers would need to buy it separately. Game Pass typically adds base editions of games, so the expansion being bundled in is far from guaranteed.
By the end of 2025, Cyberpunk 2077 had reportedly surpassed 35 million copies sold. The game's turnaround since its troubled 2020 launch has been well-documented, with the 2.0 update and Phantom Liberty widely credited with transforming it into one of the better open-world RPGs available right now. For subscribers who never got around to it, a Game Pass addition would be a genuine moment.
For now, the community waits. Given how these teases have played out before, it probably won't be a long wait.
