How to Get and Play Music Cassette Tapes in Wardogs Vehicles

Long drives in Wardogs get quiet. Too quiet, if you ask me.

Bulkhead's shooter hides a fix in the vehicle menus: cassette tapes. Pop one in and your car or helicopter plays music while you ferry supplies across the map. The catch? Getting a tape going takes two separate steps, and the game does a poor job of explaining either one.

Here's the short version. You earn each tape permanently through class progression. Then you buy a fresh copy every single match.

Step one: earn the tape through Driver or Pilot

Tapes sit in the progression paths for the Driver and Pilot skills. Level up either skill, reach the required tier, then pay a one-time fee. Same system as weapons and attachments, according to both Shacknews and Nintendo Smash.

Music Tape H is the one with official numbers attached. Bulkhead's Season 1 changelog moved the tape from Pilot level 28 to Driver level 23. The price dropped too, from $5,000 to $2,500. Half the cost, five levels sooner. Not bad.

How many tapes exist in total? Depends who you ask. Shacknews counts eight. WARDOGS Hub points to a datamined snapshot listing nine tapes across Driver and Pilot, spread from level 5 up to level 30, though the site stresses only Music Tape H has official confirmation. Eight or nine is the safe answer for now.

Step two: buy a copy in the match

Owning a tape in your progression tree does not put the tape in your hands. Each match, you pay again. Here's the route:

• Buy a car or helicopter from the vehicle vendor. Skip the quad bike, which Shacknews says doesn't support tapes.
• Climb into the driver's seat.
• Press B on PC to open the Buy Ammo / Supplies screen.
• Pick the Items box, sitting beneath Ammo and Logistics.
• Scroll along the tabs to the far right until you reach Tapes.
• Buy your tape and confirm. The tape lands in the vehicle's inventory, not yours.

Hit play

Press F to interact, scroll down to Play Cassette Tape, then hold F. Music starts.

A few quirks worth knowing, all from Shacknews' own testing:

• The tape plays once. No loop. When the track ends, head back into the menu and press play again.
• Tapes count as physical items, like ammo or bandages. Leave the vehicle, or see the vehicle destroyed, and you'll need to buy the tape again.
• Anyone with access to the vehicle's inventory is free to swipe your tape. Watch your squadmates. And your enemies.

Nintendo Smash adds one more detail: nearby players hear the music too. Great for vibes. Less great for sneaking. Rolling up to a contested objective with the stereo blaring won't win you any surprise points.

One warning. Skip the TikTok clips describing tapes as collectibles you find lying around the map. TikTok tags several of those summaries as AI-generated, and the claim doesn't match how the system works in-game.

A Season 1 caveat

Wardogs sits in Early Access, with Season 1 kicking off on 10 September 2026. Bulkhead has said each season brings a different XP curve and item order. The tape levels and prices here reflect Season 1 and are likely to shift later, so check your progression tree before grinding towards a specific tape.
