The highly anticipated racing simulator RENNSPORT officially launched on November 13, 2025, but the release has been plagued by a multitude of technical problems and unfinished features that have left the sim racing community disappointed.

After a 72-hour early access period for Deluxe Edition players, RENNSPORT's full launch revealed a game riddled with bugs and glitches. The racing simulation suffers from AI drivers randomly crashing into walls, pit crews floating in the air, and steering wheel compatibility issues across Xbox consoles. Players have reported wheels from major manufacturers like Fanatec, Logitech, and Thrustmaster failing to work properly on Xbox.

The game's AI has drawn particular criticism for being fundamentally broken. Limited to just 12 cars per race, AI-controlled drivers struggle to complete laps without multiple collisions. At the fictional Orchard Park street circuit in Singapore, AI cars barely manage a single lap without hitting walls repeatedly. Reviews have described the AI as operating nothing like actual GT3 drivers, making offline racing essentially unplayable.

Beyond the AI problems, RENNSPORT launched with a sparse content offering—just 19 cars and 13 tracks—while charging premium AAA prices of £50 for the standard edition and more for the deluxe version. The game also features an in-game currency system called "RENN$" for purchasing additional content, which has drawn criticism from the community.

Developer Competition Company and partner studio Teyon have acknowledged the issues and committed to improvements. Creative Director Kim Orremark stated the team is "committed to steadily improving the overall player experience" with consistent progress expected over the coming weeks and months. The first post-launch patch, containing around 90 fixes and improvements, arrived on November 18 addressing many of the reported issues including the Xbox wheel compatibility problems.

Despite the technical shortcomings, reviewers have praised RENNSPORT's crossplay multiplayer functionality and netcode, which performed smoothly during online races across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S platforms. The physics model shows promise, though it falls short of established competitors like Assetto Corsa Competizione.

The rushed launch has left many questioning why the game was released in its current state when competitors like iRacing, Assetto Corsa Competizione, and Automobilista 2 already dominate the market with more polished experiences and extensive content libraries.
