
Arc Raiders Sales Pass 16 Million as Nexon Confirms Biggest Launch in Company History

Arc Raiders has crossed 16 million sales worldwide, with Nexon confirming the milestone in its Q1 2026 earnings report. Embark Studios' extraction shooter shifted another 4.6 million copies during the first quarter alone, taking cumulative sales past 15.5 million by quarter's end before tipping over the 16 million mark shortly after.

For Nexon, this is officially the biggest new product launch in company history. And the publisher isn't shy about saying so. Nexon called the sales performance "extraordinary" in its Q1 2026 financial results, with North American and European revenue alone surging 310 per cent year-over-year off the back of the game. Total overseas revenue climbed 59 per cent, setting a fresh company record.
"These results confirm our unmatched ability to build large-scale global IPs", said Nexon President and CEO Junghun Lee.
The engagement figures back the sales up. Players have collectively logged more than 1.5 billion hours in the Rust Belt, and over half of the active player base has clocked 100-plus hours each. For a £30 / $40 paid game, those numbers stand out. A lot.
Yes, peak concurrents on Steam have dipped since launch. Of course they have. That's what happens after any major release once the initial rush settles down. But the game still pulls around 100,000 players on Valve's platform on a regular basis, and neither Sony nor Microsoft publish their figures, so the full console picture stays opaque.
Frozen Trail and the bi-annual update debate
Embark drew complaints from parts of its community on Tuesday with a development update announcing a shift in how Arc Raiders gets fed new content. Monthly major updates? Gone. Twice-a-year drops? Welcome to the new normal.
The next big one is Frozen Trail, due in October. Embark described the update as the largest since launch, bringing the biggest map in the game so far, fresh ARC enemy designs, an overhauled skill tree, new progression systems, and the first proper exploration of what the ARC machines are and where they came from.
"Going forward, we've made the decision to release major updates twice a year", Embark Executive Producer Aleksander Grøndal wrote in the post.
The reaction has been split. Some longtime players feel frustrated at the prospect of waiting until October for the next big content drop, while others, myself included, think the bi-annual cadence suits an extraction shooter far better than monthly drip-feeding. There's already a new Trader arriving next week for level 25+ players, offering Expedition Vault slots, extra stash space, and weekly rotating rewards.

For Nexon, the October update matters more than most fans realise. The publisher pitched Frozen Trail as a way to reshape the game enough to pull back lapsed players, while drawing in new ones at the same time. Whether the strategy works depends entirely on Frozen Trail delivering the scope being promised, something Embark's last big drop, Riven Tides, was widely felt to have fallen short on.
China launch, two new games, and what comes next
Tucked away in Nexon's report was confirmation that Arc Raiders has secured ISBN approval in China, the regulatory clearance needed to operate in the country. Multiple closed beta tests are scheduled throughout 2026, with Tencent handling local publishing.
That's a significant opening for the long-term audience ceiling, given how punishing the Chinese approval process tends to be for foreign games. Approvals routinely take months or years, and many never arrive at all.
There's more. Nexon also revealed that Embark has two new games in early development. No names. No genres. No timeline beyond "several years out". But considering Embark is already supporting Arc Raiders alongside The Finals, which posted Q1 year-over-year growth of 47 per cent on the back of Season 9, the studio's pipeline looks healthier than most Western developers right now.
For a team that pivoted Arc Raiders into an extraction shooter mid-development and got mocked for the choice at the time, the vindication is hard to argue with. 16 million units sold in six months. The "dead game" chatter online keeps growing louder by the week. The numbers, frankly, say otherwise.
